Handpainted boards
Interesting article about the “handpainted boards” phenomen. This is why sites like deckrecycle have come up. Their intention is different from some artists intention (see video above):
“Since 2008 Deck Recycle (Hamburg/Germany) has been collecting old and broken decks to conserve their soul and save them from rotting at the dumpsters of the world. This happens either by passing them along to artists or by forming what we call Skate Hearts…The Skate Heart is more to be seen as a symbol than an ordinary commercial product. The money made by selling it is contributing a tiny part to put up new social/creative/skate projects. Every single Skate Heart is one of a kind. Individual and unique like its history.”
Marshall Art – Stefan Winterle
If you’re into graffiti art ‘Marshall Art’ is your gallery in Switzerland. Get works by Smash, Dare, Cruze and the likes – very letter driven. I especially enjoyed the stencilled boards by Stefan Winterle.
James Voller’s photos of his photographic stencils
Reminds me of EVOL’s ‘Plattenbauten’ – but still a nice way of altering one’s perception of a place. Here’s the artist space. Make yourself a home.
